Dr Geof Hill
The Investigative Practitioner

Geof is the principal consultant of The Investigative Practitioner. His business assists professionals in many walks of life to reflect on their practice. He currently works with Queensland University of Technology and Southern Cross University moderating on-line professional development programs for research supervisors. His doctoral work examined the incongruence between rhetoric and practice in Higher Education.

He also works as a research coach for a number of industry action inquiry projects including the Brisbane Council Zero Harm project, the Education Queensland New Basics Curriculum project and the Department of Health and Aging Positive Futures project.

Dr Helen Chapman
Queensland University of Technology

Helen is a lecturer at Queensland University of Technology. She holds three postgraduate qualifications in Education and a Master of Nursing degree. She is a Registered Nurse and Endorsed Mental Health Nurse. Dr Chapman has contributed to postgraduate supervision through presentations at conferences, development of a web-based annotated bibliography, and supervision and examination of postgraduate research students. She has been an editorial assistant, an associate editor, and a member of the review board for a number of other journals. Helen has published widely in conference papers and international journals

Dr Jan Betts
Leeds Metropolitan University

Jan is a Senior Lecturer in Organizational Psychology in the School of Education and Professional Training at Leeds Metropolitan University . She leads the Advanced Professional Diploma  in Research Award Supervision. This is a cross- University award-bearing programme offering training for new supervisors in both good practice in supervision and understanding local and national procedures. The award is based on an M level reflective practice assignment which addresses  issues arising from  reflecting on supervisory practice and considerations of wider aspects such as ethics, disciplinary difference and pedagogy. Jan's major research interest are in reflective practice and in organisations and aesthetics.

Dr Louisa Webb
Loughborough University

Louisa is a lecturer in Physical Education Teacher Education at Loughborough University in England . Her research interests include power, subjectivity and embodiment in teachers' work, lives and careers, plus innovative pedagogies. Louisa's PhD was awarded from The University of Queensland, Australia . She has also worked at San Francisco State University where she was awarded an Emerging Professional Award for Excellence in Teaching. As part of her work, Louisa supervises and examines Masters and PhD theses. Her goal in supervision is to create a research community that encourages debate and interaction.

Dr Pip Bruce Ferguson

Pip is an independent researcher and educational consultant.  She has been an Executive member and New Zealand Vice President for the Higher Education Research and Development Society of Australasia, and on the Executive of the Action Learning, Action Research and Process Management organisation (an international organisation). Until recently Pip was Research Manager for Te Wananga o Aotearoa, (translation, University of New Zealand ), a Maori tertiary provider.  Pip's research interests are in practitioner research, developing inclusive standards of judgment, and promoting equity in education.

Dr Shankar Sankaran
University of Technolgoy, Sydney

Shankar is a Senior Lecturer at University of Technology , Sydney . He worked for several years in industry in Asia and the Middle East in operations and project management before joining academia. Shankar teaches project management at UTS and has successfully supervised close to fifteen postgraduate research students and examined over thirty postgraduate research theses. He has also presented/published refereed papers on thesis supervision and examination. He is the founding editor of the International Journal of Health and Ageing Management . He is also on the editorial board of Action Research , Australasian Journal of Business and Social Research and Action Research International.

Professor Wendy Schiller
University of South Australia

Wendy is a writer, researcher and teacher and has worked in Canada, South Africa, PNG and Australia with indigenous populations and taught at the tertiary level in Canada and Australia . Wendy has edited and authored 11 books, 25 book chapters and over 35 journal articles. She is currently Director of Research, de Lissa Institute of Early Childhood and Family Studies at the University of South Australia . Wendy was recently awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for service to early childhood education.

Associate Professor Bill Atweh
Curtin University of Technology

Bill Atweh is an Associate Professor at the Curtin University of Technology, Perth Australia. His major areas of interest include sociocultural aspects of mathematics education; The use of action research and critical mathematics education. He is the co-editor of four international books in education and several journal articles. He is a member of three editorial
boards of international journals. He has extensive experience in supervision of post graduate students at masters and doctoral levels.
