Purpose of the research: After several years of growth, E-commerce has become mainstream and matured. However, the new challenges require that tomorrow's E-commerce system move beyond the basic functions such as a static website with electronic catalogue and/or a shopping cart towards an intelligent, dynamic, and secure commerce system. This research project attempts to explore the emerging technologies that can solve these issues such as systems integration and information sharing. Specifically, the nascent technologies introduced include application services, Web Services, grid computing and their combinations. The benefits and perils of each technology as well as the potential factors that influence businesses to adopt them are also discussed.
Methodology: Qualitative
Implications for practices: The description and discussion of the emerging technology trends will have implications for businesses in making strategic decisions and thus increase their business sustainability and competitiveness.

Abstract
Title: Improving Alliance Satisfaction: The Resource Alignment of IT Competency in Small Healthcare Centers

Purpose of the research/paper : The objective of this research is to establish whether greater deployment of resource alignments leads to more satisfactory alliance. Two research questions are proposed: (1) do organizations which use supplementarity alignment more likely to be satisfied with their alliance activities compared with those which have adopted asymmetric supplementarity alignment? and (2) do organizations which use complementarity alignment more likely to be satisfied with their alliance activities compared with those which have adopted asymmetric complementarity alignment?
Methodology : Case Study Interviews.
Findings : IT competency can be built into four types of IT resource alignment for cooperative alliance and different types of IT resource alignment can affect alliance performance differently. Moreover, we found that the contribution of symmetric complementary and supplementary IT competency by both the focal and partner firms had a significant positive impact on the degree of satisfaction of the focal firms.

Purpose of the paper: This paper describes the role of knowledge management and its application in the context of software development. Knowledge management (KM) can be used to capture, organize, and catalo knowledge and experience generated during the software process.
Methodology : Literature review
Findings: The paper proposes a new way of thinking about the role of (KM) in software engineering environments by developing an extended framework that integrates five types of knowledge into the five phases of software development lifecycle and the five phases of the KM life cycle. The results found that the proposed framework for managing knowledge during software development will help individuals in identifying the critical knowledge available during software development and choosing the right phase of KM lifecycle for the right knowledge area in the right phase of software development lifecycle.
Implications for practice: The application of the proposed framework will improve the success rate of software development projects, through enhancing the exchange and transfer of knowledge and experience among software development teams. This will also result in improved software development training programs, policies, project management, and practices in software development projects.

Purpose of the research: The contribution of information and communications technology (ICT) to economic and productivity growth has traditionally been difficult to calculate because of the complex relationship between them, but this relationships is now better understood with ICT now accepted as a transforming and revolutionary ‘general purpose technology' (GPT). This paper describes t he transformation of ICT from backroom cost centre to bottom line contributor of significant economic and productivity growth and suggests that the rise of the services industry has had, and will continue to have, a significant role in the continued payoff for ICT.
Findings: Acceptance of ICT as a GPT means that the contribution of ICT to economic and productivity growth is better understood and is measurable. However, the substantial contribution to productivity gains that ICT is now understood to make is not fully explained by this change in measurement. The transformation from productivity paradox to productivity payoff has coincided with the rise of the services industry that has then been, and will continue to be, a significant contributor to the ICT productivity payoff.
